Introducing you to the Digital Services for Patients and the Public (DSPP)
NHS Wales is transforming health and care for patients and the public in Wales through the creation of new online health services. The Digital Services for Patients and the Public (DSPP) programme, set up by Welsh Government and run by Digital Health and Care Wales is responsible for the delivery of the NHS Wales App and other Digital services.
DSPP will also be responsible for the development of the NHS Wales App giving patients, carers and the public access to their health and care information and letting people share information with health and care professionals and others of their choosing. DSPP will feature a range of tools and technology that hospitals, GP surgeries and other care settings in Wales can use to innovate and deliver their own digital health services.
Our vision for patients and public in Wales is to help people in Wales to empower them to be responsible for their health and wellbeing and give them access to health and care services and support health and care providers to deliver joined-up health and care.
We want patients and the public to be able to:
Benefits to your GP practice include the following:
The App supports time-critical activities for staff. It frees up time previously spent at reception to book appointments and taking repeat prescription orders over the phone.
It provides an easier and more convenient access for patients to practice services, at a time that suits them.
It improves patient care through better use of Digital Solution
You can also complete our appointment cancellation notification request form. This can only be used if your appointment has been arranged for more than 24 hours in advance. (excluding weekends and public holidays). You can also text to cancel your appointment.
On weekdays between the hours of 18:30 - 08:00 and all day and night at the weekends and bank holidays, services are commissioned by the Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.
If your problem cannot wait until the surgery re-opens please ring the GP Out of Hours Service - 111.
Please tell us:
Whilst we encourage our patients to come to the surgery, where we have the proper equipment and facilities available, we do appreciate this is not always possible. In this respect, if you do need a home visit, you can help us by calling reception between 09:00 -10:00. If there is any degree of urgency, please make this absolutely clear.
You may only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice. Your GP will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed. Please bear this in mind and be prepared to provide suitable details to enable the doctor to schedule house calls
You can also be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP. You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.
If you're planning to travel outside the UK, you may need to be vaccinated against some of the serious diseases found in other parts of the world.
By seeing the most appropriate person for your healthcare needs, it will not only save you time but will mean you receive advice, care and treatment from the right person.
